By carefully selecting vendors and outlining operational processes, we paved the way for the efficient adoption of electric vehicles in St. Lucia. We understand that islands face unique challenges due to their small size and volatile grid impacts, balancing generation and supply. During the procurment project, we ingited discussions about the optimal role a utility can play in relation to the government and commercial actors. Should it be defensive, focusing on grid stability, or offensive, actively involved in determining where and how charging occurs? We supported LUCELEC in providing understanding on how they can position their organisation during the development and management of EV charging infrastructure, supporting a stable and efficient transition to electric mobility on the island.
