Boda Boda Charging Behaviour Modelling in Uganda
For this project, GreenBee collaborated with Green Hub Kampala and partners Nexus Green and Motorcare Uganda. Green Hub Kampala, established in 2022, is a collaborative initiative aimed at accelerating the sustainability of transportation in Uganda. We supported the collaboration hub by developing an Agent-Based Model (ABM) for designing an electric motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) charging system in Uganda.
GreenBee's ABM provided critical insights into charging needs, costs, and optimal infrastructure for an e-boda-boda ecosystem. This modeling helped identify optimal locations for new swapping stations based on the driving patterns of boda-boda drivers, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the network. The interactive model allowed users to adjust input values, such as residential location, commute patterns, and battery capacity, to observe their effects on the required charging stations.
